Dishwasher Not Draining? Here's What's Probably Going On

Opening the dishwasher to find an inch of dirty water sitting at the bottom is never a fun start to the morning. The good news: a dishwasher that won't drain is almost always a repairable problem, not a dead appliance.

There are a handful of usual suspects — the filter at the bottom of the tub, the drain hose, the air gap on the counter, the connection to the garbage disposal, and the drain pump itself. Any one of them can stop the dishwasher from emptying the way it should.

Trying to chase the problem yourself can lead to leaks under the sink, water on the floor, or a bigger repair than what you started with. A dishwasher hookup involves both electrical and plumbing, and it's worth having someone who works on them every week take care of it.

Give Dixie Chix a call and we'll get out to take a look, find the cause, and get your dishwasher draining properly again. Most of the time it's a quick, affordable fix — and a whole lot easier than washing every dish by hand.
